Carrboro Farmers' Market sign at Carrboro Town Commons The Carrboro Market is located on Carrboro Town Commons, next to Town Hall, near the intersection of Weaver & W. Main streets. The market is open Saturdays year round, currently from 9 a.m. 'til Noon. The Market returned to its normal hours, 7 - Noon, on Saturday March 15, 2008. Carrboro Wednesday Market re-opened April 9, 2008 from 3:30 - 6:30.

Sprouting in 2004 was a new member of the Carrboro Farmers’ Market family, the Southern Village Market, at Southern Village on the Village Green on Market Street. The Southern Village Market is open Thursdays, beginning May 1, 2008 from 4 - 7 PM.

Musician Mark Holland

Wednesday, May 21st – Musician Mark Holland Plays: Come celebrate as we listen to musician Mark Holland play his acoustic blues/roots music at the Market. Wednesday Market hours run from 3:30 – 6:30. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Cooking at Market

Wednesday, May 28th - Marilyn Markel of A Southern Season will demonstrate cooking with Farmers’ Market ingredients found at the Market that day! Markel manages the Culinary Lessons at A Southern Season, and will share some great cooking tips and tastes with our customers.



Shopping at Market

Shopping at Market Our Saturday Market is now open year round! We are now open from 7 - Noon every Saturday.

Several of our farmers are experimenting with growing produce in the winter using greenhouses and cold frames. Items to expect during the winter months at the Market are: Collards, Mustard Greens, Turnip Greens, sweet potatoes, hydroponic lettuces, Asian greens: tot soi, bok choy, and mizuna; chicories, winter squashes, pastured-based meats - beef, buffalo, chicken (limited quantities), goat, lamb, pork; charcuterie: bacon, bratwurst, breakfast sausage, chorizo, country ham, hot dogs, hot and sweet Italian sausage; eggs, fresh and aged cow's milk cheeses, pecans, pickles, jams, jellies, honey, wine, prepared foods, and crafts.

Chefs dish up the goodsChefs Who Shop the Carrboro Farmers' Market is our annual event celebrating our local farms and locally owned restaurants whose chefs shop our Market.

This year’s theme, “Southern Fare,” was in honor of our region and of Southern Foodways Alliance’s - Camp Carolina - happening the same weekend in Chapel Hill. Shoppers tasted dishes made by these local chefs, showcasing what’s in season and “Southern” at our Market in early September. Recipes are available below.

2007 Farmers’ Market Tomato Tasting

July 21, 2007 was the Carrboro Farmers’ Market Annual Tomato Tasting. Customers were able to sample over 50 varieties of tomatoes. The winner of the slicing tomatoes is Little Cherokee. The winner of the cherry tomatoes is Sun Gold. This year we had almost 300 people vote. Thanks to everyone for coming out. Click here for pictures.



The Carrboro and Southern Village Farmers’ Markets host popular special events, including fruit and vegetable tastings, cooking demonstrations, advice from Master Gardeners, and celebrations of the market, the farmers and their crops. Everything sold at the Farmers' Markets is grown or produced by the vendors, all within 50 miles of Carrboro/Chapel Hill.
