The phrase “sari sari” in Leslie’s business name means “a variety” in Tagalog, a widely spoken language in the Philippines. She began as a member of the Southern Village Thursday market, and she has worked her way up to all three of the Carrboro-affiliated markets. With a degree in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America, she spent several years working 80 hour weeks in restaurants. She then moved on to the less strenuous life of bakeries, and has since decided to do her own baking.
