Anna and Brian started Humble Umbel Farm in 2018, driven by their passion for plants of all kinds, a calling to “grow food as medicine” and to create resilient farm ecosystems that take care of people and the land. They grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers, with an emphasis on year-round salad greens and root veggies as well as a wide variety of seasonal crops, mixed flower bouquets and assorted flower bunches.
They currently rent 2 acres at the Breeze Incubator Farm in Hurdle Mills as part of a program that leases land to new farm businesses. Drawing on their diverse backgrounds in science, farming, permaculture, herbal medicine, and wild plants, they use progressive organic and ecological growing practices, always striving to grow vibrantly healthy plants full of flavor, with all the vitamins and minerals that should be there!
While not certified organic, they always use organic approved materials on their farm. They never use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.
You can find Anna and Brian, and their products at the Saturday Carrboro Farmers’ Market. Visit their website to learn more about their farm, or follow along on Instagram and Facebook.
