Sample products from the Carrboro Farmers' Market vendors and a special salsa from Carrburritos. We'll have live music from Kristi Dixon and a collection of our great Wednesday vendors.

Our farmers are growing over 70 different varieties of tomatoes at Market this year, and it's time to celebrate and sample! After the resounding success of our season kickoff Evening Eats event in April, the Market continues to build community in a casual setting after the first Wednesday market each month.

Alice Osborn is a singer/songwriter, poet and popular writing coach. Celtic, bluegrass, country and rock folk all influence her Americana vibe on acoustic guitar. In the past decade, Alice has taught writing workshops to thousands of aspiring authors of nearly all ages from 9 to 90 both around the corner and across continents. Heroes without Capes is her most recent collection of poetry and it features several poems that later became songs. Previous collections are After the Steaming Stops and Unfinished Projects. Alice is also the editor of Wake Livingmagazine and the anthologies Tattoos and Creatures of Habitat, both from Main Street Rag. A North Carolina Writers’ Network and NC Songwriters Co-op board member and a Pushcart Prize nominee, her work has appeared in the News and Observer, The Broad River Review, The Pedestal Magazine, Soundings Review and in numerous journals and anthologies. Alice is also an Irish dancer who plays Celtic violin. She lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband, two children, four loud birds and one messy guinea pig. The Carrboro Farmers' Market will begin its 39th season on Saturday, April 1st, 2017. Market hours will change to 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Flowers are not the only thing blooming at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market! On April 30th, farmers and Fifth Season Gardening Company will do their bit to help grow budding gardeners by giving away a tomato seedling to any kid who comes to the Market. The Kids’ Seedling Giveaway has become an annual tradition at the Market and will continue for the 11th year this spring.
Starting at 8:30am and continuing while supplies last, any kid who comes to Market can get a free tomato seedling to pot and take home. Fifth Season will be there providing potting soil and helping kids pick a tomato variety and plant their seedling, and Kidzu Children’s Museum will help kids decorate their planting cups and seedling labels. Market volunteers will help kids write a thank-you note to drop off with their donor farmer. From 9:30 to 11:30, kids can hear, sing and dance along to kids’ songs by veteran educator and multi-instrumentalist Tim Wells.
This event isn’t just for the kids! Fifth Season will also have perks for the rest of us grown-ups, with a rain barrel raffle, coupons for 10% off anything in their store, and bumper stickers.
All families are welcome to join the fun at Market for Morris Grove Elementary Night!

Stock up with delicious local goodies, and then stick around after Market for an Evening Eats Food Truck Rodeo from 6pm to 8:30pm with music by Dogwood Blossom! Trucks will include Baguettaboutit, Bulkogi Korean Barbecue, Gussie's Greek Food, La Mesa Latina, and Tar Heel Creamery, and Steel String Brewery will be there with cold beer!
Come out early for the first Summer Market of 2016, the best selection of produce, and an Early Bird Sampling of delicious baked goods! Halloween falls on a Market day, and we can't wait to celebrate! Dress up and join in the fun with our photo booth, trick or treating for all ages and kids activities!
Peppers have a longer season than many other Market vegetables, and come in a huge diversity of shapes, sizes, colors, flavors, and amount of heat! Market farmers have the whole spectrum covered with over 40 kinds of peppers, from super spicy to juicy and sweet with varieties like Habanero, Serrano, Padron, Aji Dulce, Shishito, Carmen, Mary Jemison, Jimmy Nardello, Revolution, Tequila, Gold Rush, Yummy, and more!
Starting at 8:30am, Market volunteers will be serving samples of fresh peppers and two finalist pepper recipes, selected by Sheri Castle from the People’s Peppers recipe contest. Market shoppers will vote on their favorite recipe to select a winner, and all the pepper recipe submissions for the contest will be immortalized in a People’s Peppers mini-cookbook that will be available for sale at the event. Con Acento will keep everyone moving with some acoustic Latin grooves! All samples will be available while supplies last.
The Annual Harvest Dinner at the Carrboro Farmers' Market has become a cherished tradition. It is a night that brings together chefs, market farmers, and our community for an incredibly delicious locally sourced meal in Town Commons. We are excited to host our 4th Annual Harvest Dinner in Carrboro Town Commons on Thursday, September 17th.
The event will feature hearty potluck-style dishes from twenty of the area's finest chefs including Jeff Barney of Saxapahaw General Store, Bill Smith of Crook's Corner, Brendan Cox of Oakleaf, Kevin Callaghan of ACME, VImala Rajendran of Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe, and many more.
Steel String Brewery and Benjamin Vineyards Winery will host the pre-dinner cocktail social at Town Commons, giving folks some extra time to enjoy great company and purchase local beverages! The fun begins at 6:15pm!
Tickets for the potluck meal are $65 when purchased before September 10th. You can buy tickets online or at the Market Welcome Booth. All proceeds from the dinner will go right back to the Market!
